We are looking for people who share our commitment to:

• Dog welfare and force-free training
• Disability rights and accessibility
• Inclusion and intersectionality
• Compassionate and accountable governance

As a director, you would help guide PAL CIC, contribute to important decisions and ensure that our work remains true to our values and community purpose.

This is an unpaid governance role with equal voting rights. The core commitment is four accessible, usually online meetings each year. Any additional involvement is optional and must fit around your health, wellbeing and life.

You do not need previous experience as a director. Lived experience of disability is essential; this may be personal, professional or through supporting or caring for someone else. Training opportunities may be available.

We particularly welcome interest from people belonging to marginalised and underrepresented communities.

Independent Dog Trainer Partnerships

Professional partnership | Independent role | Opportunities across the UK

We are building a network of ethical, inclusive and welfare-focused dog trainers who want to help make assistance dog pathways more accessible.

You do not need to be an assistance dog specialist. We welcome trainers who can provide services such as puppy foundations, life skills, obedience, behaviour support or task training within their own skills, experience and location.

As a PAL CIC trainer partner, you can:

• Remain an independent trainer
• Receive suitable client referrals
• Choose whether to accept each referral
• Work within your professional competence and geographical area
• Support disabled people and owner-trainers
• Contribute to a shared, supported pathway where appropriate

PAL CIC is reward-based, welfare-centred and disabled-led. Any trainer working with us must share these fundamental values.

Financial transparency

For paid work referred by PAL CIC, the independent trainer pays PAL CIC a referral fee equal to 5% of the training fees they receive for that referred work.

This is not a payment for priority, endorsement or guaranteed referrals.

The referral fee contributes to the costs of:

• Receiving and coordinating enquiries
• Matching clients with suitable trainers
• Maintaining our CRM and pathway records
• Providing accessible communication and support planning
• Supporting the wider advocacy, education and social-change work of PAL CIC

Trainers remain responsible for their own business, insurance, professional decisions, client agreements, invoicing and tax obligations. Joining the network does not create an employment relationship or guarantee a particular volume of work.

We believe that being open about how the arrangement works is essential. Full terms are provided before a trainer decides whether to join, and there is no obligation to proceed.
